Sonia Peggiani successfully defended her PhD thesis work entitled: "FABRICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CARBON-ATOM WIRES AND WIRE-BASED NANOCOMPOSITES". A beamtime experiment has been approved at ELETTRA Synchrotron light source in Trieste (Italy). The experiment will be done at the IUVS beamline from 8th to 13th of February. New results: synthesis of polyynes with controlled length and termination

Polyynes have been synthesized by laser ablation in liquids in different solvents, carbon atomic wires up to 22 carbon atoms in length are observed.
