Carlo S. Casari selected as outstanding peer reviewer for Nanoscale Advances

Carlo S. Casari has been recognised as outstanding peer reviewer for RSC Nanoscale Advances in 2020. Every year The Royal Society of Chemistry - RSC highlights its outstanding peer reviewers. Based on the number, timeliness and quality of reports completed over that year, each receives a certificate in recognition of their contribution. Out of over 51,000 peer reviewers from more than 120 countries in 2020, only 500 are recognised in this way. see more on RSC website

New Results: how conjugation modifies properties in 2D carbon structures beyond graphene

We investigated how the properties of graphdiynes (2D carbon crystals) depend on the topology of sp and sp2 carbon connections. By a theoretical work we have outlined the role of the structure of molecular fragments in the final properties of extended sp-sp2 carbon crystals. By means of quantum calculations based on density functinal theory (DFT) we have analyzed how topology induce different conjugation effects and hence different properties such as the HOMO-LUMO gap. By using a parameter to ...

Just Accepted paper: investigating the hydrophilic chararcter of single layer MoS2 grown on metal substrates

We investigated the interface between Single-Layer MoS2 and the silver surface to unveil ageing effects related. Monolayer MoS2 has been deposued on silver by pulse laser deposition, the effects after exposure to atmosphere, humidity and oxygen have been monitored by Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. The observed effects are non permanent and storage in vacuum can restore the as deposited conditions. A capping layer made by polimer is able to prevent the aging ef...

EspLORE @ VISPEC online

On 23rd of April 2021 We were present at VIPSEC online with a talk: Raman Spectroscopy of Carbon Atomic Wires given by Carlo S. Casari. VISPEC online is an e-meeting opportunity for researchers interested in vibrational spectroscopies and their manifold applications. VISPEC online is an ideal bridge between the latest VISPEC2019 conference held in Brescia and the next VISPEC conference to be held in Perugia. Through this initiative we wish to stimulate scientific discussions on vibrational spe...
